Udokan Copper completes installation of ore grinding equipment
The sixth ore-grinding mill made by the Finnish company Outotec, a leader in sustainable minerals and metals processing and recycling technologies, has been installed in the grinding department building at the construction site of the Udokan Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
The mill, in particular, is fitted with end caps. Thus, all mills of the processing plant are assembled and ready for the installation of attachments and auxiliary equipment, electric motors, electric power supply systems, as well as monitoring and control units.
Grinding is the second stage of the flotation and hydrometallurgical ore processing flow. After the primary crushing of ore mined at the Zapadny open pit, its fractions less than 300 mm in size will be fed to the crushing unit via belt conveyors. The six mills installed in the building will crush ore to particles with a size of less than 170 microns for subsequent transfer to the flotation line. Mills are the core equipment used for grinding. Two semi-autogenous grinding mills and 4 regrind ball mills will be used at the first stage of the Udokan project providing processing capacity of 12 mtpa.
The equipment used will automate the technological process to the fullest extent.
